    Axe Rant

Just watching PBS's Antiques Roadshow from a 2000 episode. A guy had a Pipe Hawk, 1780-90 with a silver federal eagle band, initialed GW and TH they think George Washington gave it to a certain soldier Tom (can't remember last name), missing the end cap and mouthpiece, curley maple handle...

    Almost gave up!

Went out for the 1 week opener here in Washington State and got soaked day in, day out. Decided that maybe BP wasn't for me. Then, I licked my wounds, and pulled up my big boy pants, and thought how many Mt. Men would have turned into Accountants or Shop Keepers with that attitude! Making a Cows...

    Restoring Tin Cookware

This might be the better location. Got a couple enameled (?) tin plates and a fry pan. All have a couple worn spots and some rust. Anyone ever restore? Thanks!

    Pitch?

Funny thing, since posting this had to work outta town and remove a BUNCH of Choke Cherry trees. Didn't have time to remove pitch but there was a ton of it, most likely from the heat.

Looks like a lot of fun was had! Did ya make the guns from kits?

    Pitch?

Hope this is the correct place to ask. Not a lot of Pine trees in Western Washington. What types of pitch have been used in place of pine-pitch? I would think Fir pitch would be fine. Anyone ever use Cherry pitch? No specific use, just whatever pitches have been used for. Thanks!

    How traditional are you?

Somewhere between C-D. Shoot a Hawkin, round ball, wear the clothing that is probably pretty close, wife and I make as much of our stuff as possible, go to a few Rendezvous'. This'll be be first year hunt'n with muzzleloader, been traditional archery for years.

    Sasquatch shoots himself

With all the BASHING done (?) and VALID points made, we all make mistakes! Some dumber than others. I was quail hunting once and went into some thick willow, gun went off and scared manure outta me! Luckily no one around me! Only 2 possibilities AND both my fault! 1- Brush knocked safety off AND...

    Flintlocks and rain

Got a question. New to BP and wanted a flintlock and got talked into percussion as I live in Washington state. How do flintlocks fair in rainy climates? I'm guessing they used 'em here back in the day and still do. I read they used a leather cover over the frizzen?

    Traditions Hawken Kit

FML, do you hunt with the Buckskinners lube? Read an ad for it and says strictly for target shooting? What would be the difference? If so, what lube to hunt with? I understand it's a personal preference thing too! Appreciate all info!

    Traditions Hawken Kit

Didn't care for the olive oil much. Better shots with Bore Butter or just plain spit. Think I'm gonna try a thinner patch too.
