I guess you have been blessed, don't you? There are others who have paid huge prices for an error in judgment, or a careless moment. They do not deserve to be maligned. It obviously was a blessing for him and a small price to pay in light of his subsequent medical condition.

I do appreciate what he is doing to promote our sport. I wish there were more shows going that used traditional weapons. I would love to see a Shockley or Miranda out there with traditional weapons. I do wish Sasquatch would learn to clean his rifle better. I seen him have more misfires in 12 or 15 shows than I've had in my entire lifetime.

Accidental discharges happen.
It's a shame it cost him a digit.
Caps Lock are a passing fad.....
Amazing to see unprimed flintlocks fire.
Remove the cap or plug your touch hole.
Stay sharp..Hunt Hard!

Hey Spike Buck...Whats a tv...?

Aint that kinda like a CF with no primer?Perhaps the sparks of a flinter can get past the touchhole with no prime

Just wondering(cap n ball shooter).

you are correct sir. if a good hot spark bounces through the touch-hole a flinter will say "BANG" primed or not.

With all the BASHING done (?) and VALID points made, we all make mistakes! Some dumber than others. I was quail hunting once and went into some thick willow, gun went off and scared manure outta me! Luckily no one around me! Only 2 possibilities AND both my fault! 1- Brush knocked safety off AND activated trigger! 2- I forgot to put safety ON! Either way = NOT GOOD! BUT, I don't think this makes me an idiot! I NEVER wander around with safety off! NEVER! But ??? On a second note, I'm NEVER going after a Griz, specially one that's been following me, with a 1 shot weapon! I still like Laramy! Lesson sadly learned!

Sorry. Anybody that carries a gun with body parts in front of the muzzle, IS an idiot. From the very first minute of hunter safety class, don't ever put body parts over the muzzle. We make allowances for loading, but once loaded? It was a Forest Gump moment.

I've always thought it was kinda odd to go hunting with an unloaded gun. I'm the type that hunts by myself and when I leave the house it's loaded. Of course now I can just walk the door and be hunting. Even when I had to travel short distances and hunted with a center fires I always kept the clip loaded and attached in the truck. Never one in the chamber until it came out of the case. I see these shows filmed in Alaska where they walk around until they see game then chamber a round . :idunno: :slap: Not Me thar's bare's up there.

It's even dumber to point your rifle towards the rear at your cameraman. That is why he carries it muzzle forward. There are a lot of comments here about Laramie from people who have never seen his show and know absolutely nothing about him. He made mistakes and only HE has to live with them. As far as him making the sport look bad, he does more to advance BP hunting than anyone who merely posts on an internet forum. Chill out, people.

NO!...If you have a camera man you're not hunting......You're filming..

It's like driving while talking on a cell phone.... :slap:  :td: :youcrazy:

just because he has a TV show & is a pretty good feller don't make him immune to bein' hoo-rawed when he does somethin' as stupid as blowin' his own fingers off. if I did somethin' like that I'd expect people to think it was stupid & no-one would think it stupider than I would myself.

When I was a youngster, I had unsupervised, unfettered acsess to guns. There was an old schoolbus out in the woods that I stood inside of and ventilated with many rounds from a 38,a22 and a 16 gauge.

Definitly had some angels looking out for me  Carefull of that muzzle!! :shocked2: :eek:ff Acient Chinese pyrotechnician"little knowledge goes a long way,lot more, goes a lot further"his name?Run Son Run :rotf:

To me it's called Insanity! :rotf:

Oh, he knew he did something stupid and admitted it. Luckily he didn't have his whole dang hand over the muzzle. Losing the pinky through stupidity is bad enough, but filming while doing so is priceless and is a hard and very embarrassing lesson learned.

I've never carried muzzle first and have no reason to. My rifle is either over my shoulder (muzzle to the rear) or in the crook of my arm (especially in brush). Even though I always hunt alone I know where the muzzle is at all times and I'm not sweeping myself or pieces-parts thereof. I also never have hunted with the hammer resting on a cap, which is just a bad, bad idea. :shocked2:

However, I still-hunt with a capped rifle because the critters are sometimes less than ten to fifteen yards away (hogs love traveling in ravines). I use a piece of brass tubing that slides over the capped nipple. I then rest the hammer on the tubing. The only way the tube is coming off is if I pull the hammer back and manually remove it.

Wait, what were we talking about?
