    CLOSED Miroku Matchlock Tanegashima Teppo

Good day all, I'm looking to sell my Miroku Japanese matchlock. I've had this matchlock for a few years and enjoyed it but I've moved away from my outdoor range and no longer have the time to get out and shoot it as much as I would like. It's the standard 50 caliber and functions flawlessly...

    My new Jackie Brown Fowler

I'm not in a hurry to sell it. I'm more than happy with what came in the mail.

How were lead ingots cast in the mid-late 18thC

Thanks everyone for all the info. I went and did some searching online and found a few molds that would seem to be similar to the idea that was put up about the channel in the wood to cast into but rather than wood they are graphite. I'm going to give them a try and see what results I get...

    My new Jackie Brown Fowler

I chose 28 gauge mostly because it was different and to save on lead. I had pretty much no other reason which is why it doesn't really bother me too much about being the wrong gauge lol.

How were lead ingots cast in the mid-late 18thC

As I sit here thinking about it - do forgive me if this is in the wrong area. I wasn't entirely sure if this fit here (as the forum section description included lead casting) or if it better fit in the period-specific reenacting thread as it is specifically relating to historical methods. Sorry...

How were lead ingots cast in the mid-late 18thC

Good evening, I'm going to start looking into casting my own round ball and was curious, as I am intending on doing Rev War reenacting (and general mid-late 18th Century reenactment), how were lead ingots cast and stored back in the day? I've seen a number of times mountain man reenactors...

    My new Jackie Brown Fowler

I'm not exactly certain what it is you're getting at here - if you're taking a jab at me or what.... I am curious what makes the corrected gun more like a smoothrifle as opposed to a fowler than the very obvious smoothrifle Jackie originally had made before I corrected him. As stated, I am very...

    My new Jackie Brown Fowler

The barrel is octagonal to round and tapered. It was as I requested. The 20 gauge is fine because while I had specified 28 gauge I would have eventually gotten a 20 gauge down the line anyways. A mistake I can live with lol I tried to find the image from TotW but they sold the gun I had sent...

    My new Jackie Brown Fowler

Good day everyone. Wall of text ahead! As some of you know I was looking a while back for an affordable fowler to enter the world of flintlock shooting and get into rev war reenactment. After asking around, a few members suggested I contact Jackie Brown as he makes a decent product at an...

Is 28 gauge historically correct for 18th century?

Yes a baker  breads are my specialty but I'll shoot a hole in it and call it a doughnut if you'd like!

Is 28 gauge historically correct for 18th century?

I am portraying a baker taking up arms and joining a county militia. I'm intending to carry a fowling gun but I would like it to be in 28 gauge so long as it is historically accurate.

Is 28 gauge historically correct for 18th century?

So I'm looking around at various groups for reenacting and I was told by one that they weren't sure if 28 gauge was acceptable for the Brigade of the American Revolution standards but if it could be documented it would be perfectly acceptable. Can anyone point me in the direction of some...

Provincial/ Militia groups in Eastern/ Central PA?

Good afternoon folks, As you can see from my post counter I am very new to the forums but I am not new to the world of reenacting. I've reenacted various time periods for several years now but have always held a special place in my heart for the early Colonial period of American history and...
