    The Most Enjoyable Hunting

Fred, I am a "young buck" now but I hope some day I will be in your position. In November I am headed out to hunt cow elk in the Rockies with my father (70 years old) and my son (4 years old). We are hunting the regular rifle season, but I'll take the .54 Deer stalker in your honor.

    First BP animal

First off I just want to say thank you to everyone who posts on this website. I have been reading as much as I can for the last couple of years and your input has really helped me do this with no in-person mentor. A couple of years ago I decided to go the “traditional” route with muzzle...

    .54 Lyman or...

No scopes in CO, or pellets or sabots for that matter. Thank god. I'll be on the lookout for a used trade rifle (I don't like double set triggers) or deerstalker. If I run into something bigger than .54 I'm still going to grab it!

    .54 Lyman or...

Well thank you all for the help. Lyman .54 it is.

    .54 Lyman or...

Gents, I have hunted with a rifle for the past 19 years and I am ready to move on. To make a long story short, I want to shoot black powder (no subs) PRBs at elk. Right now I am leaning towards the Lyman Deerstalker flinter in .54, but to be honest I would really rather have .58 or larger...
