    Spanish trade guns?

The English and French had pretty much standardized a trade gun pattern buy the mid-1700's, but what about the Spaniards? They were trading with the Native Americans longer than anyone. Any info on their trade guns?

    Flint pistol (gun show pickup)

You are %100 correct. No pious and educated Muslim would decorate his weapons with human or animal figures. Too close to idolatry. Makes me wonder even more about this gun. If the creature was engraved (or possible stamped with numerous little 6's which is the impression I get) after it had...

    Flint pistol (gun show pickup)

It definitely has been repaired in the last 100 years. Brazing on the side plate is another indication.

    Flint pistol (gun show pickup)

Wow thanks for the boiled egg trick. Fascinating. I am gonna have to look for lettering. I can actually read most of the Arabic script, although I might not know the words. I checked the bore. It is not loaded, but it is deeply cratered inside the actual firing chamber, directly accross from...

Ordered a Clay Smith Trade Gun kit

If it's not too late, Id call and ask him not to pre-inlet the side plate and thumb piece. Mine were inlet deep and sloppy. Lots of hammering to peen out the sideplate to fill the gaps. The thumb piece is lookin like I may just make a bigger one from scratch. Oh and it's really bad off center...

    East European Flintlock Pistol?

Just bought one similar. Posted an ID thread. Mine is the basic shape, but different details. It does have the grooved frizzen. The barrel seems solid enough, although it may be pitted deeply accross from the touch hole, from what I could tell with a flashlight.

How would I check? Acid test?

    Flint pistol (gun show pickup)

Not certain, but I cant imagine why someone would do that, unless it was done in the modern era as a spoof.

    Flint pistol (gun show pickup)

No discernible letters or proof marks.Engraving is faint on the brass from polishing. Engraved on the barrel is some bizarre creature. I thought maybe a crude sheep, but that doesn't seem fitting for a gun. Guy I bought it from said hairy armadillo. Thre gold cards are inletted into the barrel...

    Flint pistol (gun show pickup)

Greetings. Just picked up this up at the Alabama Kentucky rifle show. Was told it was Eastern European (possibly). I personally feel it is from some Ottoman emperial holding. Interestingly, the sideplate appears to be inletted in it's broken condition. Ill try and post a good photo, but the rear...

    barrel holes repair

Those screw holes will be places for rust and crud. I doubt they would make the barrel burst if the screws do no protrude down into the barrel, but just generally they don't belong and I'd say it's worth getting a half descent Pedersoli kit and becoming a black powder nut.

    Identification assistance request

Hmm definitely decorated in the usual style of the Ottoman empire. I've heard that European style guns were imported (perhaps "in the white") and finished with local tastes in mind in the East. I've seen similar gold Damascening on barrels of Middle Easter/ North African origin. You should send...

    WANTED BP shotgun

I've got an 11 guage double for sale. It's not perfect, but nothing to keep it from being beautiful and deadly. W & C Scott and Son percussion. PM me for a lot of pics. I'll even throw in a bunch of 11 guage wads, since those are a little less common.

    WANTED Blunderbuss

Is he still looking? I've got a 4 guage musketoon of sorts I'd sell. Not a true blunderbuss, but it's made to the proportions of an original blundebuss and that 1 inch muzzle is impressive.

WANTED Antique or shootable used shotgun
