    Thank you for your help.

    Stumpy's Moose Snot On Stocks

Thank you. I should have added that the stock in question has been sanded and stained, followed by 5 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil and allowed to dry. It is dry, buy was just thinking of adding another barrier, but mostly to see if it would help weatherproof it. Thank you.

    Stumpy's Moose Snot On Stocks

Hi all. Just a quick little question. Is it alright to use Stumpy's Moose Snot on a wooden rifle stock? I see some people wax stocks, but I have this stuff here and was thinking of using it instead of going out to buy wax. My plan was to rub it on sparingly, let it sit about a half hour, then...

How To Tell Differences Between Pyrodex And Black Powders.....

Nope. All good. She ended up coming home a bit late so it had time to dissipate. Again, lesson learned!

    Lee pot problem

I had not been here in a short while, but am glad this topic got brought up. I am surprised to find out I was not the only one with problems. My pot also has the 'LEE Drip'! That is why I always use the little welding rod to clean the hole. I had always wanted to keep my pot in great shape, but...

How To Tell Differences Between Pyrodex And Black Powders.....

Again i forgot to add that I had looked at both under magnification and they were so similar i could not tell. But I will just be blowing it out of my New Englander percussion rifle. Got a gun show this weekend so will look for another powder horn for my Goex. Thanks.

How To Tell Differences Between Pyrodex And Black Powders.....

There was not much in the way for uniformity. As well, now that you mentioned it, I was playing with some new 'vials' I bought online for storing powder in when going shooting and hunting. I had my brass powder measure out and had forgotten the graduations on it, again as I had not shot BP for...

How To Tell Differences Between Pyrodex And Black Powders.....

Two things. By sealed, I had meant in the metal can with the lid on. Secondly, I am pretty confident to say that it is Goex in the plastic powder horn. It did indeed go Pffffft! Then I got an odor of rotten eggs. If I ever have to do this again, I promise to do it outside and not in the house...

How To Tell Differences Between Pyrodex And Black Powders.....

As it stands right now, my container of Goex FFFG weighs in at 16.568 oz, or 469.8 g. That is sealed tin on scale with whatever contents inside.

How To Tell Differences Between Pyrodex And Black Powders.....

Hi all. So I have a question, and it is pretty much as said in the topic. In the past, I had used Pyrodex Select in a rifle of the type we cannot discuss here. Around the same time, I had gotten my first sidelock, Traditions Flintlock. Now getting ready for the flintlock, and my 54 New...

    TC New Englander Barrel Question

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. Thank you.

    TC New Englander Barrel Question

Thanks for the link. The bases are what I would like, just that the $20 USD shipping is a bit much for my blood right now. The bases are a good deal though. I will probably wait till our next gun show and see if I can locate a used set of bases there. Thanks again for the link.

    TC New Englander Barrel Question

Ok. That is definitely what I got to thinking after some more research. Below is a picture of my New Englander in which I think was just drilled and tapped to use whatever bases the gentleman had on hand. If someone could please confirm this, I would greatly appreciate it. Each set of holes are...

    Lee pot problem

Wow. You really have problems then. That is very wierd in my opinion.

    TC New Englander Barrel Question

Thank you. Now to google what the mount really looks like. I had seen a picture of one, but my barrel is not drilled and tapped the same as the mount I saw. At least I have something to now go by.

    TC New Englander Barrel Question

Hi all. So I have just a quick question that hopefully someone could kindly help with. I am in process of looking for a scope mount for my TC New Englander in 54 caliber. Someone may have one available from his old New Englander in 50 caliber, but I was just concerned that the outer diameter of...

    Lee pot problem

I am assuming that you have lead in it? Mine is sometimes a problem child as well. And what I do is the following. I get it up to temperature and not necessarily full, but have some melted lead in the pot. I then take a 1/16" piece of wire and bend 1 inch at the end up (roughly 8-10" rod with...

    A Loaf of Beeswax

Yes, thank you. I was typing it that way but made a correction and apparently lost my train of thought. Good catch.

    Patch Knife?

Just an update. I have the blade ready, I have the handle in the 'rough'. I was away late last week and weekend and am now back to a late storm. So my workshop is now housing vehicles and is cold, so will be a couple of days.

    A Loaf of Beeswax

So, if I read this correctly, I can use a pot and put both my wax and water in it. Bring it up to temperature, the wax will melt, bug parts sink. Let it sit and cool and the top layer of wax should be bug free? Thank you.
