    Honest opinions on Kibler rifles

Although anything produced can throw out a problem child every now and then, Kibler takes care of those if they pop up better than any small company I know. The people you have talked with must either be ignorant of available flintlocks on the market and their operation or they have an agenda.

    Blackrock Leather "N" Rich

That stuff is full of petroleum distillates. I prefer a natural ingredient mix like Montana Pitch Blend

Track of the wolf’s English flint fowler

Per their websites, Track's fowling piece kit STARTS higher than a quick ship listed on Jim's website right now. You will also be light years ahead just in the lock.

Track of the wolf’s English flint fowler

Not only is the Kibler fowling piece easier to assemble and finish, it has much better architecture and design, better lock and hardware, better looking barrel, better everything.

Use of fine shot in colonial America

You also need to add Rupert shot to that. Much prior to the American Revolution. Here's some out of Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge https://www.qaronline.org/blog/2021-04-01/artifact-month-rupert-shot

    Who charcoal blues Fowler barrels

They used a brazier or heated plate to pass the barrel over it with a mandrel thru it as I understand it. Many of the original barrels i have seen were lightly dovetailed to hold the lugs for brazing. I used multiple mapp gas torches to make a rather poor amateur attempt on this barrel...

Temper or plate blue was also an option if you are wanting a blue on that level of trading gun. It was even done on some trade guns to the Indians.

What is your choice of shot container for the field?

The late Jon Laubach had them made in India (IIRC) and used to sell them. They are based on an original but are thicker in material.

Repro spring chargers. I use shot in one end and powder in the other. Repro spring chargers. There are colonial accounts of them being ordered along with London made guns. I use premeasured shot in one end and premeasured powder in the other.

    Birmingham proof marks

Well last night they appeared to look 3/4" tall each : ) Hadn't had a drop I promise. Of course I'm usually always looking at the forum on my phone, glasses on and I usually expand everything to see it.

Gentleman's Sporting Waiste Belt and Bag

Gentleman's sporting waiste belt and bag. I used an element of the engraving on the trigger guard of the customer's gun to hand fabricate and engrave a matching stamp for the bag set. Bound entry, internal divider, lined flap as well as the overall body.

    Help with identifying flintlock rifle

There were plenty of early half stocks in the 1720-1740s time frame and the metal entry with pipes attached to the barrel the way they are in this piece was the standard of half stock construction then prior to using a rib. I think this was a gun made about 1740 using a much earlier but ornate...

    Help with identifying flintlock rifle

English. The furniture is much older than the stocking/carving, hooked breech system and lock. I would like to see the top return on the buttplate as well as more shots of the metal at the ramrod entry. The barrel bears the proof and view from the London Company and what appears to be the...
