    The way I did mine was I drilled a couple of small holes in the end of the stock to hold the nosecap in place after molding. I then used cardboard to make a mold and held it in place with masking tape. After poring the mold I shaped it with a file and sandpaper.

    I use an Altoids tin with a hole in the lid and then wrap copper wire around the box to hold it all closed. I have used a can with a press in lid as well. It seemed to me that the char in the middle wasn't done enough and that on the outside was to brittle. I prefer the Altoids tin.

    Browning metal parts

    I always sandblast the part fisrt then degrease with isopropyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone, or acetone. Always wear rubber gloves and make certain that the work surface that you lay the parts on is clean.
