Anyone receive a rifle this year? I’ve been waiting over 4 years now.

My Lyman gpr flintlock is more reliable with the cut agate, but they also have a short lifespan.

Millions of rounds have probably been shot successfully through this style of gun with the stock ignition system using #11 caps. I doubt that’s the root cause of the OPs issue.

I’ll take it since we’ve already done business and I have a GPR flintlock.

Not sure exactly what you have but I have a new unfired left hand flintlock 50 cal barrel pulled off a GPR. It might fit the gemmer hawken in the chance that’s what you have…and flintlock. I swapped it out for a .54.

The powder isn’t the issue here. I’ve fired many shots out of my GPR with 777 and various #11 caps and never had an issue igniting it. This includes days of being loaded in hunting situations. With a properly cleaned gun, it’s not hard to set off at all. Seems like there is a fouling or...

I shoot 90gr of 2f T7 out of my 54 GPR percussion gun, kills elk and moose. I could shoot 3f if I wanted to also. I shoot 90gr 3f goex out of my 54 GPR flintlock, seems to leave less fouling with no accuracy change. I use a .535 ball and .015 patch lightly lubed with mink oil.

I do at the range between each shot and before cleaning at home.

Brought that up to TVM when I sent it back the first time to rebuild it due to other issues. They said that’s the historically correct finish.
