    Powder!!!

I just found this and when I went to Travelers site they were out of stock on just about everything they have. Is this the norm for them?

All of this misinformation is really getting old

I find this kind of thread both informative and funny. I am new to BP so I am just reading and absorbing info. Still kind of lost on the swabbing and cleaning since there are SO many differing ideas on that one but the powder over the ball in hand, I tried that with my .45 ball and then poured...

    half cock after firing?

I read your message. I pointed out that it was not me that called anyone out! I had absolutely nothing to do with that discussion!!! I think I got my answer to my question about the forum and I will probably look elsewhere for guidance and education. Thank you and have a good day.

    half cock after firing?

Well, I have to say that as another new cap and ball shooter I was quite interested to see what this thread had to say so I could learn something from it. All I learned is that nobody seems to agree on the proper procedure. I also learned there is a fair bit of discontent between the US and...

    Hello from NJ

I actually belong to Hutton Hill Rifle and Revolver in Winslow. I grew up in Delran and am familiar with the range you are talking about. Off of Taylors lane? Do you know Jim Fusco?

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

I have some very nice files, I do machine work sometimes and I am a locksmith. But as soon as I tried to file that block I realized it was case hardened from the heat treating to get the finish. On the Dremel I have an extension drive which I can hold in my hand and I have very good control over...

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

Well right now the hammer is not wanting to come off. Some judicial tapping has failed to convince it so I am going to put some Kroil on it and let that soak for a day or so. It doesn't look rusted but something is holding it very tight.

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

Are these hammers forged or cast? I would be worried about breaking it if cast. I don't want to use heat since it will ruin the finish.

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

    Bingo!!!

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

I have not tried anything yet. I am not a gunsmith but I have been a fabricator and a mechanic for 50 years and it is pretty much general knowledge that unless specified parts should not be preloaded by the mounting screws around a mounting block. That is the situation I am looking at here. The...

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

In NJ you need a permit to take a manure! You need a permit to buy a BB pistol and you need a firearms id card to buy and own a BB gun or even a paintball gun. And we will not even talk about all of the gun restrictions.

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

Just to give you an idea of how far off it really is when the hammer comes down it actually hits on the ramp on the cup in the hammer. It is VERY close to hitting the side of the cup. That is why I want to move it over. The wood is not the issue, If I pull the screws in it will pull both ends of...

    Hammer alignment, Is this acceptable?

I purchased a Investarms Kentuckian percussion pistol from an online auction based only on the pictures I could see in the ad. It was complete in the box with flask, nipple wrench, brush and mold for ball and bullet. It is .44 cal. Being in NJ I had to wait a month for my pistol purchase permit...

God, Guns & Guts Dinner Display......

The tofu and carnations pretty much gave that one away😆, I have the same problem minus the tofu and carnations. I am on the opposite coast. I think it is good to promote antique shooting and show people that there is more to guns than modern assault weapons. I am just getting into black powder...

    Hello from NJ

I would like to get some more contact info from you so we can talk black powder. I was wondering if there was anywhere even close to me I could go to actually see and learn in person. My range is in Winslow Township but I have only ever seen one black powder gun there one time.
