    Lyman Great Plains

I dislike my GPR signature series sights. The pictures on the website were either old or misrepresenting on purpose. I can’t use this thing. Not with my eyesight. I’d like to trade it for a .54 invest arms. I’ll use my old renegade flintlock more than this.

    .54 Renegade Arrived

I used pyrodex for a long time with terrible results in my renegades. I finally was able to get Goex and some schuetzen so i can have much more positive ignition in my renegades.

.54 Drop in Barrels for T/C Hawken. ?

Honestly, I gave up finding parts and just went through eBay. I’ve found two excellent barrels (1 flintlock and 1 percussion) so I was able to put together two guns with parts off eBay. The flintlock is my favorite. It was originally a stock for percussion but with a bit of filing, I got the...

    Great plains lefty are available

The rifle itself in RH isn’t bad in the Lyman brand but the sights are garbage. I’d rather have gotten an investarm like this. They have better sights. I won’t even use this Lyman gpr. Opted to build some renegades from parts online.

    TC Renegade 54 Flintlock

I put together a TC .54 flintlock last spring and began my learning experience with a flintlock. I am using 75gr of Goex FFG and a .530 ball. I find that two to three taps from the flash pan charger using ffffg is plenty and a few adjustments of the flint to get me to having positive ignition...

    First Time. TC Hawken

One thing I’d caution against is Gun oils that will pool in the powder well. TC guns have a powder well and oil can pool causing misfires. I have used pyrodex in my TC guns but ignition with no11 primers was terribly inconsistent and deer would just stare at me and walk away. I’m using Goex...

    First Time. TC Hawken

Judging from the picture, I don’t see a 209 conversion (magspark) device. If there was one I’d advise to just go back to a regular nipple. I have had much better results in recent years with actual black powder and #11 primers or my tc renegade flintlock ignition.

    T/C Renegade Hammer

I’ve added an even longer nipple to my .54 renegade caplock I just put together from used parts and I can still cap mine, but I do use a capper.

    Napping your flint

Lol. I just put together an old renegade flintlock from parts and bought a bunch of flints. I don’t know if my hulk like ham hands can make a flint worth using.
