How Long is a Load Good for?

OK, I know a lot of people do this, but I don't consider a muzzleloader unloaded or safe unless it is unloaded, period. It doesn't go in the car or house with a load in it, pulled or shot out. I know I do more cleaning than most, but none of my guns have worn out yet. I almost shot my father...

    N.E. Barrell

I use all 12 gauge in mine, they're a little tight in the screw-in choke barrel.

    Target pistol

Looking for a target percussion pistol to play with....I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a regular pistol, but I like the idea of a muzzleloader. Any suggestions? There was one down in the sheep sheds, target based on a 1911 if I remember correctly, any other makes out there that I...

    12ga. New Englander Barrel

Just sold one that had screw-ins from the factory. I think the newer ones came that way, my early one was fixed cylinder. The full choke screw in really barked my fingers up starting the wads, and it never shot that well. I'd rather play with the cylinder choke and the load components to...

    Shotgunin

I've spent many a day in the field with my New Englander single, it's one of my favorites, and I have quite a few doubles. Something about having one shot gives me a calming effect....Pete

Looked at a 16 gauge today.

Pass on it. If you don't know what you're looking at or for, it could very well be dangerous. Especially at that price point. Save your money and get a TC New Englander or CVA single 12 and start out, should be able to find one used for 150-200. And you know it will be safe to shoot. Pete

    Goex fffg for 12 gauge?

I've been shooting ffg in my shotguns for over 30 years now, never had any reason to change. When I'm at the skeet field, you can tell the guys that use fffg, they have a sharper sound when they go off.I've been told this is due to increased pressure that the fffg makes, but I have no proof. I...
