What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Bought a PDF of the 'Black Powder Rifle Accuracy System' and found somewhere I can send it to to have it printed and bound. Ordered 300 x 5ml Plastic storage vials and a couple of foam lined plastic storage boxes for them. Buying a printer today so I can complete a variation form (permission in...

This one wasn’t meant to be about any specifics regarding firearms, just an introduction, but after getting asked a couple questions it diverged a bit.

    Variation Assistance - UK

Thank you for that, that’s perfect. I sent an email to our licensing department explaining the situation and asking if I could put down .44/45 so I could buy whatever was available on the second hand market after my variation is granted. They replied to say that I should explain in as much...

I’m thinking of an anvil converted Uberti Remington NMA in the short term with a Westland Alfa in the future when the legal issues are sorted and he can get the components easily again but same essentially the same thing.

    Variation Assistance - UK

Ah ok, I’d read that when they first came out in 1972 they were stamped .45 but shortly after, they changed to .44. I have seen a couple UK adverts where they were labelled .44/45

Thanks again everyone for the welcomes. I like almost all firearms for one reason or another but mainly because it’s old technology being revamped to make it as good as it can be.

    1. Im actually going to have to email my licensing department about that. I want a Ruger Old Army and after research, they apparently never changed the caliber but early ones were marked as .45 and newer ones were marked as .44 2. So am I better off just not stating nitro so that I have the...

Remington New Model Army With Shotgun Primers

On Sunday we just used a straightened paperclip to gently push them out. Absolutely no issues whatsoever.

Thanks Jason. You may regret saying that as I like to research things heavily so I can see lots of questions coming your way in years to come

Thanks VA. I love London too. My uncle used to live there so with visiting him and spending a month there doing security for the Olympic Supporting Events, I’ve spent about a year in London. I would however love to visit America one day.

That was actually a thought that popped into my head yesterday and I was going to ask about. Means I don’t need to wait for a variation either which is great. What about smoothbore pistols?

Remington New Model Army With Shotgun Primers

After having a look, I think you may be correct. I was sure he had said it was the same gun apart from the grips but I remember he took it out of a grey plastic box which matches the images for the ROA I’ve just seen. Also, these look to be the exact primer cups that were in the cylinder...

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone. Haha, that you did Britsmoothy. There’s even a GB section which should be good for asking my licensing questions.

Thanks Spillikins. I'm in County Durham and yeah just target shooting. Guns I'm looking to get if permission is granted: 1. Remington 1858 NMA stainless steel target. Thinking of going for .36 as I have small hands but the .44 didn't fit too bad so not sure. Not sure on barrel length yet...

Remington New Model Army With Shotgun Primers

Sorry, yes 209 primers. I have found a post where someone mentioned having a modified hammer, or nipples with built in firing pins but I don't believe the one I fired had either of these. The guy mentioned that he could change the nipples back if needed if there were no shotgun primers...
