    Horrible experience with Plum Brown

    What's wrong with this doe?

I butchered a big doe in Northern Missouri last weekend that had more fat on her than I have ever seen on a deer in my life. Gobs of it. The small doe and the Buck were totally normal, but the bigger doe (closer to the cab of the buggy) was fat as hell. The buck looked way bigger on the...

Opinions on product for glass bedding a stock that was overcut by a newbie

There are a lot of things that will work to prevent epoxy from sticking. I use Partall paste for flats and AG mold release spray for corners and hard to reach places. It's not like they're expensive. Spend the extra two dollars and get what the pros use.

SOLD - Pending funds FS/WTT Loyalist Arms Heavy Dragoon Pistol for English Sea Service Pistol

I have the same pistol. Love it. British horse pistol. Good for sending treasonous colonists to their just rewards.

    Kibler Breach Plug

I tried about five times getting some 4F in there. I have thought about maybe some ether/starting fluid... I have a big vice, but as was said, it is tapered and I haven't found a wrench that really fits well enough to put force on it. That's very kind of you. I may take you up on it...

    Kibler Breach Plug

With the ball puller in it? It wasn’t a dry ball, just a small charge. I think I’d rather remove the breach and get it from the backside.

    Kibler Breach Plug

I was at a match today shooting a .32 SMR. I have this rifle for competition, and the balls and ticking fit TIGHT. On about my fourth shot I got a flash, and then another, and I picked the hole, and then another… So I went back to my table to pull the ball. I got it started and pulled, and...

Strange Day for Me in the Woods.

I ate a tenderloin from a giant buck with a huge rack last weekend killin' ducks, and it was tough as hell. I had to cut it wafer thin to enjoy it. It was delicious, but like eating skirt steak or round steak tough. Honestly, if I had it to do over I would have beat it to hell with a meat...

Strange Day for Me in the Woods.

That's happened to me more than once when I was so hungover from the first night at deer camp that the thought of cleaning one, dealing with a big carcass, and getting blood and viscera all over me just wasn't appealing that morning. That said, I still gots miles and miles of kill in me, but...

Rain down the barrel isn't an issue. A wet pan is. Cow Knee for the win.

    Revisiting hardtack

"Good" being a relative word in relation to mold. I have online conversations all the time about creating delicious things using the culinary arts to make and eat. This is like a competition to create the most inedible, non-poisonous "food" possible. 🤣

    Revisiting hardtack

I'm not an expert, but I thought they usually soaked it in something to soften it rather than trying to nibble on a rock. I suppose bacon grease would work the same way, but if you can have bacon then why are you eating hard tack? People ate it unprepared for sure. I just assume that after a...

    Revisiting hardtack

It's not like you can take it backwards and make anything out of it. Once it's in hard tack that's it. Best you can do is wet it with something so it doesn't break your teeth. Hard tack was literally just the most stable, unrefrigerated, "edible" calories you could carry with you. That and...

Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

Barrel finish is certainly preference. That "antiqued" (rusted) looks like bloody hell to me. If I want a historic firearm that's corroded I'll buy one, but I don't want a new one to look like that before I've had the chance to put my own honest wear on it! On the .32 SMR, which was my second...

    Rust protection.

Our military stores rifles indefinitely in comoline. The Chinese military stores rifles indefinitely in fish oil. Both harden over time so they stay right where you put them. Both keep out all oxygen and water vapor. Oil that doesn't harden flows and it keeps flowing always. Long term...

billiard cannon and lead pool balls

The cannon at my friend's gun cub shoots tennis balls. It's a breach loader, and they have boxes of these premade charges that look like a monkey's fist with a fuse sticking out of it. Never seen anything like it. They're labeled "Grose Kanonenladungen". I think it's more of a signal cannon...
