PA Game Commission to Ruin Flintlock Season?

In PA. during our late flint lock season we don't have to wear orange, but I always wear an orange hat when moving. What I don't understand is our early doe only M.L. season during archery. We must wear orange and archers do not.

This proposal was dropped and will not even come up in the Jan. meeting.

Just got my first flint lock

Back around 1990 I bought a Investarm 50 cal. Hawken flint lock for hunting (mainly because they had them in L.H.). It's always shot well and have never had a problem with it.

Flint gets stuck on hammer face.

Had mine always go off but the frizzen didn't open fully. Took the frizzen off and fully cleaned and lubed the screw and hole, and it worked as it should again.

    Loading technique for hunting

Forget the alcohol as it's water base and oil doesn't mix with water. Run a dry patch down it to remove any oil, pour your powder down and top that with a lubed patch and ball, and you're good to go.

Brass brush gets stuck, hmm never had a problem with that. Guess that answers why a lot don't do it.

    cleaning brush

Just wondering if most folks have THE BRASS BRUSH IN THEIR CLEANING RITUAL. I ALWAYS HEAR I SWAB IT WITH THIS OR THAT AND NEVER HEAR ABOUT A BRUSH. I MYSELF ALWAYS USE ONE AFTER THE PATCHES COME OUT CLEAN AND THEN I WET IT DOWN AGAIN, AND MAN IT LOOKS LIKE STARTING ALL OVER . To ME THAT IS...

    Who carries a purse?

My ex gave me one of her purses when I first got a M.L. Black leather with a flap on it. Think it was from the 70'S, looked more like a bag and not a purse.

    Hornady PA conical

Just got a box of them, but haven't gotten out to try them yet. I, too, found them to be messy so I took out 20 rounds and wiped them off leaving that stuff only on the sides. From the looks of that pic I think they'll do just fine for deer.

    What Flints for Lyman Deerstalker

I believe that frizzen is 5/8 wide , but just double check that and there ya go. As to what either hand pick or order from a good maker. Prepackaged brand name stuff is hit or miss when ordering online. Some are great and then the next one and the same packet almost self-destructs.

    Frizzen not completely opening

Update , Sorry for the delay but got it fixed. Removed the frizzen screw and found it not to be completely tight and had a little crud/rust on the screw , so I cleaned both screw and frizzen hole and lubed. Also found spring screw needed a tad more tightened. Don't know if it was one or a combo...

    Flint orientation

Never liked the fact that my Investram 50 cal. had the flint hitting low on the frizzen though it did spark there. So I switched to bevel up and that had it in the ball park but now tried back to angle down(thought it would be better on the Flint edge) and added leather under my leather wrap and...

    Question on sight in heidth

Going to switch from 275 gr. conical to 240 with 75 gr. 2Fwith 50 cal. Flint lock and since most of my hunting shots are 50 and under I was going to go from 85 yds. to 50 for sight in. Should I sight in a tad high (and about how much) to still hit a deer at 80 or 90?
