Controversial question. Short rodding a patched ball.

I’ve always marked my rammers when wood or measured by how many fingers of ramrod should be showing with the normal load. If you’ve ever seen a shotgun fired with a little mud or dirt in the barrel you would be very careful about this.

    Lifespan of a Rifle?

Me too. I carried my sharps carbine but didn’t have tape primers to fit it.

    Freaking New Guy-VA

Welcome from Texas. Long guns are in many ways more fun than pistols and I wish you the best in expanding into rifles.

    Adjustable Barrel Lapping Tool

    1861 Springfield Barrel Patina issues

Maybe test some vinegar on the barrel where it is hidden by the stock. I aged a replica that was bought in the white when I was a kid. It took several applications to even out.

Welcome from Texas. I love those flinters but caplocks are fun too. You can learn a bunch here, but don’t take what we say as gospel. You can get very different opinions sometimes.

The Rifle Shoppe - two thumbs up!

Agreed. There is always room for improvement in any business. Issues at TRS are more obvious than larger companies with multiple employees and a more advanced inventory System. We get excited when we order stuff to build and delays are difficult to handle. We just need to be aware of the way...
