Update for all who showed interest in this thread and/or gave advice: I never did find my good calipers but it doesn’t matter, because the 380s came from TOTW and they’re obviously the proper size. So, just part of my learning experience and I hope none of you think your time was wasted. Thanks guys

They’re hornady from muzzle-loaders.com. Basically this thread is you members watching a newbie’s process of taking the long way of learning his older toy takes less common balls, that’s all. Much ado about nuthin

The measurements I’m getting from my wife’s hobby calipers are apparently useless, when I find my vernier calipers I’ll report...

Reading other threads, I’m getting that pietta takes .375 and uberti takes .380 and ASP/Euroarms are closer to uberti. The balls are loose in the chambers, but too big to fit in barrel. I’m looking for my calipers now

I ordered .375 balls for my 1851 .36, which are too small as they drop right into the chambers. I assume I need .380, but is it really dangerous to shoot using them?

Newbie question time! Must I remove the nipples for adequate cleaning, or is it sufficient to just clean out the holes?
