Here’s a crescent butt plate on a 1892 Winchester reproduction. No stupid toe plate.

I agree with the not sure it’s even necessary. Sending pics of upside down ooops

Looks good to me also. That is a funcky little part. With mine, it seems that little plate is upside down. I swear it would fit better with the angle flipped. Yup, had to go look at that again. Looking at how your plate fits, mine was definitely countersunk on the wrong side. Oye…

Dude- I like your first suggestion. I’m going to try that and see if I can improve on what I have so far. If nothing else, I am curious what it will show.

I’ll be dammed. It is 1/4-28. Anyone need several M6-1.0 threaded nipples? Atleast my paranoia wasn’t in vain, Ha!

I originally had intentions of doing just that but I stubbornly got my necklace of thread checkers to give me what I found. Now that I have the barrel off it will be easier to do, which I will. I’ll let you all know what I find then. Working on inlaying the trigger plate now. It’s taking a lot...

Oh Boy, you fellas sure know how to build confidence. Well, I will have to double check everything and be sure. I’m hoping Grenadier is correct. And songwriter is newer and yours , kelvinator, was re-tapped.

Had a thought. Given our rifles are like brothers, do you recall the threads of the nipple. Mine was missing and best I could figure, it is M6-1, curious if the same. Though it fit and did snug tight, I just have that nagging feeling that I may be wrong. Paranoia can be a bummer sometimes.

    Good day from Montana

There are two I would recommend getting started. The Lyman is dedicated to all casting and the Lee is all encompassing. Each has a slant towards selling their own products. But the knowledge far out ways the sales pitch. I really like Lee for price and quality of cast bullets cast. Probably have...

Very similar. Your fit and finish is exceptional. What did you choose to use to finish the wood?

Outstanding. Looked up German Silver. A couple different combinations but here’s one 60% copper, 20% nickel, 20% zinc. Thus the golden hue. Copper. Ain’t Aluminum for sure.

Ok, stop the press. Apparently I’m full of dookie. Went out to to take a second look. The nose is not solid brass. It’s more shiny silver than brass, depends on the light source what color you think it is. Did some research. I believe now it’s anodized aluminum with a hint of yellow thrown in...
