    Front sling swivel install

The gun is fullstock, with no rib under the barrel. I understand that the swivel needs to rest on the RR pipe. I can't use the swivel that goes on the pipe/thimble from T/C because I no longer have the stock thimbles/pipes on the gun. I am trying to figure out if drilling the screw through...

    Front sling swivel install

I am toying with the notion of putting a sling swivel on my full stock Renegade. The question I have is, do I NEED to install another "tab" in the barrel to put the screw through? Would it be OK to just drill through over the rod thimble and call it good, or even install one of those brass...

    Sitting Fox Jaeger....Good Deal?

Faster/cheaper/better was meant as three separate things, not as one. I think SF will build me exactly what I want. I know it won't be a $4K gun, because I am not paying $4K. I'm good with that. However, TVM and SF are the only folks I know of that might be able to make what I am looking for...

    T/C Renegade .54 conversion

Yes, Bob Hoyt converted my .50 percussion Renegade to Flintlock when he re-bored it to .58.

    Sitting Fox Jaeger....Good Deal?

So, I am looking at getting a Jaeger rifle, .58cal, in brass with a brass PB, and a little carving. I have pinged about every builder I can find on the web, and Sitting Fox has told me it would be a shade over $1700 and around 6 months for a gun in the white(I can finish the wood and metal)...

    T/C Renegade .54 conversion

I do know it's possible. My Renegade has been switched over to flintlock, re-bored, and set into a full stock. I am sure that I am over-simplifying the process, but you need a new lock and either fill the hole from your drum with a screw, re-drill, tap, and install a vent liner, or a new...

    Is My Hunting Load OK?

If you can put the bullet in the vitals, yes, it's plenty.

    Lewis & Clark HF 1803 #15.

The only thing that we know is that nobody knows. HF 1803, 1792, M134 miniguns.....we'll probably never know. That won't stop people from arguing about it, though.

54 or 58 half stock rifle thoughts

If I remember right, there is a tutorial of sorts here on the forum somewhere, but basically I replaced the breech plug with one for a rocklock, and put on an L&R lock. That's pretty much it. There is another DIY way to do it shown somewhere on here. If I could find a closer to HC/PC trigger...

54 or 58 half stock rifle thoughts

I, too, had my .50 Renegade converted to flint, bored out and rifled to .58, and set in a full stock with traditional sights etc... It's a work in progress, but it shoots like a dream. The re-bore was done by Bob Hoyt, I'm sure a search will turn up his contact info. I was amazed at how little...

    Rebore-

Bob Hoyt re-bored my T/C Renegade from .50 to .58 and I couldn't be happier.

    Being 'pushed' to modern weapons

ST, I live near Sanford; it takes me 30 min to get to Cary if that gives you any idea how far away we are. I get back CONUS in the spring. I have a 50yd range at the house that you are welcome to use once I get home. It isn't much, but you can shoot real BP, AK47s, laser guns, whatever you want...

    Pan Priming??

I'm not too experienced, but I use a few dabs out of my brass priming flask that i got from TotW. I also shoot and prime with 2F. It works well for me, but maybe I'm too new to know better(?).

    need a gunsmith

Bill, Thank you for your offer. You have a private message. I'm not on the internet everyday, as you can imagine, but I'll check back as often as possible to see your response. Thanks again.

    need a gunsmith

Birddog- Thanks, I didn't know that. That's actually really helpful. Dave- I'm not doing it myself. Several reasons, not the least of wich are that I don't want to screw it up, and I'm in Afghanistan. Maybe I'll learn how to do things like that when I retire (judging by how busy these custom...

    need a gunsmith

I am looking for a gunsmith to inlay a patchbox (banana style), replace my T/C sights with something traditional, and maybe one or two other minor inlays. I have tried e-mailing several 'smiths I found online, but all of them must have enough work to keep them busy, I haven't gotten a single...

    Burn pattern on a stock?

Hmm... Paul, Zonie, Snow, and Wick; thanks for the advice. I am much less inclined to think about it now, but I think I am even more curious to see what it looks like since it seems so reprehensible. Still looking for a picture....
