    Reccomend a Builder

I have a set of parts I want turned into a gun. I dont think I have the patience or the skill to do this project. I tried a kit once, and I'm not real happy with the results. Anyway, who would be a good builder to send my parts to? Ive got a 62 barrel, A halfstock blank, mule ear lock, and...

    Fitting a Breach Plug?

Despite my two books (art of pennsylvania longrifle, gunsmith of greenville county) I messed up fitting my plug. Towards the end I was thinking maybe I should have filed from the face of the plug at an angle, towards the tang, just keeping the file on the edge of the threads. Is that correct...

    Green River Barrels with Choke?

Thanks for the information BrownBear. This guy actually has two of the barrels, one in .50 the other in .54. From what I can tell he did a pretty good job building them. I might have to take them off his hands! He is practiclly giving them away I think. The 50 he says he uses a .495 ball, 80...

    Green River Barrels with Choke?

I found a gun made with a Green river Barrel, that the owner says has about 3"'s of choke on the end. Its a .50 cal. He says its pretty tough loading at first, but after you get past the choke its easy. He says the choke really helps accuracy and he and his gun has won many a match back in the...

My new to me Fusil trade rifle

Going by tracks catalog, if its accurate, The stock closely resembels the Fusil type C trade stock. The serpent plate is from the queen anne era. The butplate is of english style for a fine fowling gun as well as the triggerguard. Yeah, I would almost agree with fowler for the most part...

    First Deer!

Wow. That is one of the best hunting stories I've heard in along time. 15 years to get your first deer and you did it with a flintlock. Not many people have that story I bet! Besides trench I guess anyway  . Yep you are in a rare club. Ill just be an echo and say congrats. way to stick...

My new to me Fusil trade rifle

Well my epoxy job came out pretty well. You can still see the crack, but not as bad, I'll refrain from the cap for now. I dont think the tang bolt is gonna work out for a rear sight. there is absolutley no sight picture formed when looking over it. But, Ill see what happens with just this...

My new to me Fusil trade rifle

Well here it is. Made by A.l. Edge. She looks well used, and not just from the patina, but looks like the former owner carried and used it quite a bit wich is a good sign I guess. Im not sure exactly what to call this gun. Looks like a fusil trade rifle. Not sure who made the barrel, but its...

    Dissasembley of Mule ear Lock

Wow, nothing like an amatuer trying to work with an item that there is hardly any information about! I cant seem to find any schematics or a dissasembley instruction for my mule ear. Its a dale storey one and is a little diffent from the pioneer arms lock. Eventually I could probably figure...

one or two bolts for Mule ear lock?

I originally planned to just have one bolt for my Mule ear lock but now Im thinking 2 would be better due to the leverage in the way its applied to the hammer. What do you guys think? But then again I cant see how to do 2 and not have the forward one block off my ramrod hole

    25" barrel .62?

Okay I did a search, found lots of info but Im still wanting to ask. If I got this .62 with a 25 inch barrel, would it generate enough power out to say 75 yards or so to knock down a moose?

    Ash for gunstock wood?

How is ash for a gunstock? I did a search, not much was turned up. Someone asked if it made the gun heavy, but the question was never answered. Are there any problems with it? I have a knife with an ash handle and that is about as much experience with that type of wood as I have

Mule ear lock with a swamped barrel

Alright, im starting to think about what to do with this mule ear lock I have. I really want to build a .58-.62 gun. Preferably a short barreled one. so a swamped 31" colerain or a oregon tapered octagon barrel are in the running. Would there be any conflicts in using these barrels with the...

    Antonio Zoli carbine

There is one of these on gunbroker. I'm thinking about getting it and using it for hunting deer, moose and black bear. Probably just for this year as Im building another gun. Now should I get this gun for this purpose? Or am I gonna be dissapointed cause it wont shoot anything but minnies? All...

    Adding soles to mocs? Durability?

Yeah I glued them too. That thread that I used is amazingly strong. Trying to cut it to fix mistakes and what not was a chore. As long as I keep these Mocs off road I bet I will get some milage out of them. Not sure how to make winter mocs, but yeah I need a set.

    Adding soles to mocs? Durability?

Thanks!Im pretty happy with them too. In total it only probably took about 8 hours to make them. Also when Im actually standing in them, you cant see that undersole at all. I traced my foot and then cut about 1/2" inside that line.
