    Flintlock Fowler Restoration

I recently got an old flintlock fowler that needs some work to restore. It's pretty long with a 53" barrel and 70" overall length and has a EIC 1779 lock. The metal parts are pretty rough so I was planning on doing a caustic bath to restore it. I also got a borescope and took some pictures...

Colonial era English fusil? A relic

Hi everyone, I picked this old relic up in a collection I bought about a year ago. Looks like it must have been stuck in a very, very damp basement for 200 years. I believe that it's an early English import, but I'm not sure what it may be exactly. The lock is about 6in long with a pretty...

    Id help

Hi, thanks for letting me join the Forum. I inherited my dad's rifle it was hanging on his wall my whole life. I can't seem to find any information on it whatsoever. The only markings are a couple of stamps and on the top of the barrels and gold is something in Spanish I think it's someone's...

My Fusil de Chasse in action

A great day at Camp Raven Knob today. Among many other actiities, I demonstrated shooting some flintlocks to the Scouts and leaders. Here's a little clip of me shooting my Fusil de Chasse. I like the vortex ring coming out the touch hole, and the sound of the ball striking the metal target.

Maiden Voyage Of The Kibler Colonial Long Rifle - Video Below

It is finished! Thanks - Many thanks to those who most graciously answered my numerous questions as I built my first flintlock rifle kit. I've named her "Charlene" (I name all my rifles), and she's a pretty gal. The Kit - The wood and parts provided by Kibler were of excellent quality; the...

    Traditions 24in flintlock deer hunter.

1in48 twist 24in barrel and a plasticstock and fiberoptic sights. This thing is a sin 10x over. Still love it tho. I bought it on sale brand new for 300$ honestly too much but well worth it to me. The lock is good sparks very well. I found on mine the hammer sits a little too close to the...

Late 16th century matchlock and Napoleonic flintlock

Some say that Napoleonic or Late 18th century Flintlock muskets are less accurate than older matchlocks because of the impact of striking a fan with a flintlock (Many of these claims come from online enthusiasts who have never actually fired a real flintlock or matchlock) Could this be true?

Finally connected after many misses last week

First week of flintlock here in Pennsylvania was fun and also frustrating. I learned quickly that I had not practiced enough with the flintlock, because I missed several deer at rock throwing distance, like 40 yards. One was a doe I missed three separate times with two different flintlocks...

    Identify this tang

This cool hooked breech percussion tang is part of a collection of parts assembled by a member here, who sold me his rifle “kit”. Because I’m going to make his gun into flintlock and not percussion, I’m looking for the flint version of this tang. If such a thing was ever made historically, or...

First time gun owner. Can't seem tighten down the stone in my jaws.

Hey everybody. Bought myself a Lyman Great Plains .50 flint awhile back. Went out and shot it, works great. Brought it home, took it apart to the best of my abilities, cleaned and oiled it. Problem is, I removed the lock to oil and clean, and fully unseated the stone to clean jaws as well...

58 Colonial and The Bull Elk

With first-light beginning to scatter the darkness of night, I can faintly see the buckskin shapes of the magnificent Wapiti moving quietly through the sage. The wind is perfectly in my favor. The lightly falling rain has softened the land, and silenced most of it's sounds. The smell of elk is...
