I was wondering if anyone has tried to open up a t/c stock with a 15/16 barrel channel to except a 1 ' barrel?

15/16 to 1 inch; I don't see a problem if your skill level is up to the task. You'd only be taking a 32nd on each side. Of couse your lock would also be moved out. Ssettle

Actually the entire barrel bed would require reworking...the flats are all wider on a 1" barrel and all the flats in the wood would have to be enlarged.

Then, after removing wood from the barrel bed, it will sit deeper and the wedge pin tenon probably won't align with the escutcheons.

And since the wedge pin tenon will be seated deeper than before, it will also probably block the ramrod from sliding in.

In addition, you'd also have to replace the tang with a 1" tang and rework the tang inletting area down in the bed for it to physically fit down in there.

If for a flint lock, the lock mortise would probably still work OK, but if for a caplock, the lock would probably have to be shimmed out further to align with the nipple.

And remember, a .54/.58cal stock is actually a larger sized stock than the regualr size stock for the smaller 15/16" barrels...it's intentionally made larger to be stronger...and you'd be making your stock weaker.

Can you get the caliber that you're looking for in a 15/16" barrel from GM?

Would like a 58 cal,but GM Barrels are all 1"
Just my .02 cents, that's an awful lot of fiddling around with no guarantee you'll end up getting everything just right, and then it would no longer work as a 15/16" stock again either.
Maybe you could trade it or sell it for the larger size .54/.58cal Hawken stock made for those bigger bore barrels...wish I'd known...just sold two .54cal Hawken stocks within the past 30 days

I was looking for a winter project when I get down to N.C.
I just may hold off and see if anyone bites on the 15/16 stock
I been playing with the 45 cal. sent my lock in on Monday came back yesterday all recondition
I tell you I shot that thing last week no kick shoots like a 22 cal. just fun to shoot.
I have to get my hands on a few conical and shoot them threw the barrel to really clean up what left of the freckles in the barrel.
