I was on a crow pest job on a farm at 5:30am today.
I got 31 with one of my breech loaders.
On returning home and having some family time I decided to return to the farm.
It was very slow, the mornings shooting had deterred the crows but a few came in for the 10g.
I just used brown paper for wads, balls or folded. Worked well.

Had to salvage some for a few more shots.
A warning though.
DONT USE PAPER IN FIRE RISK AREAS!

I'll let you guess what powder I used .

Brit you decoy them crows, when younger we would hunt crows used an owl decoy on a post, the other thing was if you wounded one catch it tie a string to its leg about 4-5 ft. long and drive a pin in the ground tie the crow to the pin out in the field. in front of your blind, it would hop around and holler the other crows would come into him.

Yes a call bird does work but it is illegal now in that it could be deemed cruel.
Gotta watch out for the snowflakes.

I hate crows. I've been shooting them for about 35 years now and haven't killed enough. They wise up quickly and avoid the places I've shot them before. I have a 60 acre piece of land and for about 6 years none would fly over my place. They would actually flare around it.

Evidently, the youngest ones weren't listening to their mentors since they started flying over again. Believe it or not, we have a crow season here in the states due to a trade off with Mexico over duck hunting. However it doesn't count if the crows are casing damage or harassing one's chickens.

10 crows. sounds like a good indian name. had a friend the was part indian. he said not to shoot crows as they are the spirits of your ancestors

They predate ground nesters and carry disease in UK. They are prolific here.
We won't eliminate them , just to many of them.

I’ve seen YouTube videos from England where guys are shooting crows and magpies with unmentionables because they attack new born lambs, they say the crows peck their eyes out and eventually kill them. Crows are just flying vermin and need to be kept in check, just like any other scavenger / predator.

Yep, shot 26 today in a farm yard with an unmentionable. Only stopped because I ran out of ammo.

One of the old Fred Bear movies shows his guide in Alaska climbing up a thick tree shaking limbs and crow calling. Had all kinds of crows coming in to see what the fuss was about. The crows were then met with a hail of arrows and the shooters took several.

They never cease to amaze me.
I can be waiting a while behind my blind, decoys in front. Then a single birds starts gliding in, there is nothing else about.
Shoot said bird, it comes down squarking its head off and out of nowhere two or three turn up in seconds, I mean where were they hiding???
