Ssettle,

Try an over shot wad for over powder (thin white cardboard one),

Then a 1/8 lubed hard nitro, then shot, then over shot with 105 grains of powder to 1 1/2 of shot. Mine shot a bit low with the mod choke, so I aimed at the juncture of head and neck and viola, great patter right on the head.

Not sure about whackin a barrel at all but I'm headed out here in a bit to try the less powder gig. Will repot back later on tonight.

well another day at the range.

WOrked on the cyl bore.

Stuck with 1 1/2 oz of shot.

Went from 105 grains of pyrodex down to 80 grains.

Ended up running out of preloads of shot to really get to conclusive. I did realize my lube is freezing up.

The best shot groups came at 20 yards to 18 yards with the cyl barrel shooting 80/85 grains of powder and 1 1/2oz of shot. Still not sure what of the two shoots the best. The 80 grains patterend quite low so I'm thinking the 85 grains should be better. This is with two 1/8" nitro's over powder, then shot, then 1 over shot wad.

Maybe I'm expecting to much out of a cyl bore barrel?

The next step is shot cups, plastic and paper. I leave sunday and then have a week and a half before the turkey hunts start. So I'll have some time to play in Mn before I head to KS.

Thoughts idears something anything, help?

OH I might add, I tried a regular 1/8 nitro, full cushion wad, shot then over shot at 25 yards and the cushion wad smacked the target, shot was pretty much gone, that was with 1 1/2oz of shot to 85 grains of powder.

I think you're going the wrong way Dan. You had said that your right barrel was shooting to the right, to correct that you need to reduce the effect of the right swing in recoil by reducing the SHOT load. Reducing the powder charge while continuing with a heavy shot load reduces the velocity, which increases the barrel time, which causes you shot to swing more out to the right.
Three drams of powder to an ounce and a half of shot is a very top heavy load. Your velocity is probably not over 850-900 fps max. Match that 80 grains with an equal volume of shot. That will get your velocity back up to 1000-1050 fps, reducing both the recoil and the barrel time and get your pattern closer to center. What's the point in throwing a lot of shot if it doesn't go where it's aimed?

Joe,

I'll give it a shot see what happens.

As for patterns, those 80 and 85 grain loads to 1 1/2oz where the only way I could get any pattern out of the cyl barrel and I cant say I'm happy about them. At just under 20 yards. It wasnt much but they did go somewhat straight. It's a bit hard to tell where the bulk of the pattern went though as the "pattern" consists of maybe 30 pellets, still lots of open areas.

I did try 1 3/8 oz load for a couple of shots and I felt like I was going back to a blown pattern as I ligthened up shot charges. I'll keep trying though and see what happens.
