I have had a hard time finding CCI #11 percussion caps for my rifles. Finally found #10. Will they reliably work on my rifles that I always have used the #11's? They are the #10 CCI Magnums. Greg

All nipples tend to vary a little. You may be able to use those #10s if you use the hammer to manually seat the cap all the way down on the nipple. Place your thumb on the hammer's ear and press slowly and firmly until it won't go any farther. Try a few dry fires to see if it works consistently with your nipple.

It is a bugger to remove those pushed-on caps though.

I have Hot Shot nipples on all my percussion rifles and use #10 Remingtons on all of them as well as my cap & ball revolvers. The only difference between a #10 cap and a #11 cap is the length of the skirt on the cap. The #10 caps are longer.

I found this. CCI number 10 caps(not Mag).
ID(inside dia)0.161 Height 0.163 cap face above cone 0.051 internal height 0.112

CCI number 11 ID 0.166 Height 0.165 face above cone 0.052 internal height 0.113

I know it's a pain to read but I am an old farmer not computer savy. :) Larry

I have found that cap sizes vary slightly by manufacturer, as do nipples.
file, peen, whatever is necessary to make a working combo. If you don't have spare nipples for your gun..you should.

I buy lots of #10 Remingtons for my revolvers. Seeing no reason to have two different sets of caps, I chuck my #11 rifle nipples into an electric drill, apply a $4 metal file, hold it over the sink and let 'er rip, and in about 15 seconds have a #10 size rifle nipple.

I'd love to say this ridiculously simple solution was my idea, but someone here suggested it.
