The trigger sear spring broke on my new Pedersoli double 12 ga broke before I got to shoot it.
It is from Dixie so I will call them Monday to see what to do about it.

Sounds like a doable temperary fix. It just has to hold the sear down in contact with the tumbler to engauge the half & full cock knotches. :hmm: :hatsoff:

If I were at work I could easily make this spring but I don't think a bobby pin will work in this case. When I took the gun out of the box and first time cocked it, the right side didn't make much noise but the left side made an audible click on 1/2 and full cock.

This is my second Pedersoli gun and it exhibits the same characteristics as the other.
It has wonderful things and not so wonderful things. It is like they get to some point
decide to stop finishing them. The gun feels right but I haven’t shot it yet so we’ll see
on that part later. I got it on a sale from Dixie Gun Works otherwise I may not have bought one.

Good guns, owned a few but the locks do lack some.

The sear springs often are to acute on the sear, almost blocking it. I have also had to make my own and bought new ones to fiddle with.

I have experienced the different sounds between the two locks and in one case it was not enough wood removed to allow free movement of the sear, not good but fixable.

Good luck

Brits.

I have had good luck at "cold working" sear springs out of the steel banding stock used on shipping pallets. You can bend it around a rod and file it to shape yet it holds it "springyness"I have often made sear springs from the straping to replace the heavy cast springs found on many older CVA's

Called Dixie Gun Works this morning and they are sending me a new sear srping for free. I also placed and order for one each, a right and left, in case this is a weak spot on these guns.
Funny part, the right sear spring is $3.25 and the left, which is a mirror image, is $6.25!

I was checking out the lock on my Cabela's Blue Ridge flintlock and it has the exact same sear spring.

Kinda makes ya wonder about quality control or lack there of. :idunno:
Dusty

I would say locks and triggers are about the only weak spot in the Pedersoli line. I've had four or five of their double shotties and at least five Kodiak double rifles and none had matched triggers. Never had a broken spring though.

Yes it does. I think they get to acertain point and say thats enough and ship it. They are good guns they just need a little more attention. There are things on them that are top quality and then there are ........well, places!

I got an email invoice and it seems the corrected price is $6.95 for each. Left or right!

It was easy to replace the sear spring, and I haven't had any other trouble. I have a 12 and 20 gauge Pedersoli double, and a Mortimer Whitworth, fast twist. I'm pretty happy with Pedersoli.

I got the replacement spring yesterday and installed it. That is a trick in itself. That little thing is strong. But anyway both sides act the same now. Good audible clicks at each stop, half and full cock. Off the three now, Pedersoli's I have the double barrel 12 ga is the nicest. Now if it will only shoot good.
