Brit Smoothie,

I too am not questioning your success with fine powder, I was just saying what has worked for me. It used to be Curtis' and Harvey's No 2 or number 6 powder was all we could get.
As for photos, a lot of my shooting took place in the 60's , 70's and 80's before we had digital cameras, and never was one to take a photo of the bag anyway.
I often used to think how if all the little animals and birds I'd shot and trapped were to go to Heaven, How Many little accusers I would have!
Since coming to Canada, I have not had opportunity for much game-bird shooting, not like at home, but if all of them bagged, along with the deer elk and moose, there would be a great lot more accusers waiting for me!

Best,
Richard.
I never accused you of anything sir.
As far as I am aware the scriptures do not imply animals go to heaven but if they did I doubt a photograph would prevent any accusations if leveled.
Sir.

Sir, morning doves are a shade heavier than a sparrow.
Try your load on a crow and report back please.
Pest control takes up most of my time crows ,rooks and jackdaws can cause a lot of damage ,has I said my load is 2.3/4 drm of FFg or todays medium grade to 1.1/8 oz of shot This load has taken bags of 100 plus in one outing which for recoil is not heavy see images

Excellent.
However there may be some confusion.
My medium grade (Krank's) resembles goex 3f and Krank's fine grade resembles goex 4f.
It is Krank's course grade that resembles 2f&1f and is as strong as a phart in a paper bag!
I used goex 3f years ago and still consider it my benchmark.
Feltwad, if you are using Krank's medium grade I think that you would be closer to using a 3f grade than 2f!

I have not used Kranks powder for many years it is far too expensive for the amount that I use per years so I obtain it from another source. Most powders here are of German or Yugoslavia manufacture another popular one is Swiss powder which once again is far to expensive . The old English powder such has Curtiss & Harvey was the best for shotguns and TPPH for rifles which was or still used by the Proof Houses.

I cant recall quite what I loaded but I didn't use cards above or below the main felt or Eley Kleena wad just a beer mat top wad & 2&3/4 powder to 1 ounze of shot more or less not to say the cards are not OK , and currently using Curtis & Harveys number 4 which is old old stuff I lucked onto. Bowls rabbits well enough . I do have a12 bore rifle but not used it to say what it works like . My Pin fire 12 bore takes the same as the MLs & seems to work . Rudyard

Britsmoothy, I believe you sir. I am also going to try 3Fg in my 20's this weekend. I will be trying Goex OE 60-75 Grains. With the pressure increase usually velocity increases as well. Hope them bunnies tasted good! Have a great weekend.

I have an older CVA 12 gauge side by side percussion. I have good luck with 70gr FF or FFF. I use about 1.25 oz of 7-1/2 or 8 shot. We shoot the clays, and I have good days and not so good, but I am usually the cause of the not so good. I use a over powder wad, cushion wad and an over the shot card wad. These are all 13 gauge wads as they work good and push down easy. I use moose milk on the cushion wad. When I got stared I used the reference section in the back of the Dixie catalog for basic info. I recommend having one if nothing else, just for the info in the back of the catalog.
