12 pound mountain howitzer plans

Has anyone built the 12 pound mountain howitzer from the plans sold by the buck stixs folks, or at least ordered the plans to see how good they are? Looks like a heck of a good project to me, just wondered what others experience has been in cost, procurring materials, etc.

I have not seen buck stixs plans but they seem over priced. I have the AOP set of plans and they are well worth the price. They give everything you need to build a accurate replica.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. What makes the plans different, and why is buck stix gun more work in you opinion? Are these other sources historically accurate, more so that buck stix? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just pondering building one.

The AOP plans are copies of the original Ordnance drawings.

Buckstix plans over complicates the breech plug and leaves to much room for error. It is made of several different parts and it only need to be one.

The gun could be made from a solid piece of round stock or with either a screw in and pinned breech plug or a sweated and welded breech plug.

The AOP plans are only $10 vs. the $80 that he wants.

Buckstix design also has a big flaw in that it does not have a vent liner. Over time black powder fowling will work itself between the breach plug and the barrel causing corrosion. This will weaken the barrel possibly leading to failure.
