I know this sounds dumb, but I just have never seen a flintlock shotgun. Would it be possible to have a shotgun barrel custom made out of a 15/16" barrel blank. Would the walls be thick enough? What about choke? Twenty gauge would be enough. Anyone ever thought about it or tried it. I think it would be sweet on small game. I guess I'm thinking 20ga. modified would be perfect. Would you ruin the barrel shooting shot out of a rifled barrel?

I know that Investarms has made 15/16 inch 20 ga barrels in precussion. I have one that came with a lyman. I'm not sure if they ever made a flinter version. You might try contacting them, I posted the contact info on another thread a while back.

i got an investarms barrel for my t/c hawken a while back. they come as percussor, but a little grinding and installing a vent liner makes a pretty sweet flintlock 20ga with a screw in choke and steel shot capability. i love it. it also dropped about 1.5lbs off the nose of the gun. much nicer to swing and carry. im about 50% on clay pidgeons with it :) haha

I haven't found a 20ga in 15/16ths but you can find Green Mountain drop-in smoothbore flint barrels in .50 and .54 caliber to fit T/C and Lyman guns.

I put a 15/16" GM .54cal Flint Smoothbore barrel on a Hawken stock last September...fantastic barrel!
Outstanding pattern of #6's at the 25yds I tested it, and extremely accurate with patched balls, took a couple bucks with it in November.
It's definitely become my "if I could only have one muzzleloader what would it be" choice!
