Offering up my Tom Caster Philadelphia Fowler, a beautifully crafted piece that embodies the elegance and simplicity of 18th-century design. This fowling piece is built in the style of a 1760s Philadelphia Fowler and showcases Tom Caster’s exceptional craftsmanship.

Details:

• 8.6 LBS, approximately 58” total length

• Gauge: 15 gauge (approximately .680” at the muzzle), 42” Bobby Hoyt barrel

• Approximately 14” LOP

• Stock: Handsome cherry stock with a rich, warm finish that really brings out the grain

• Barrel: Smoothbore, perfect for both shot and round ball

• Condition: Excellent, well-maintained with minimal signs of use

This fowler is light, quick to the shoulder, and would be right at home in the field or at a living history event. The lines are graceful, the balance is spot-on, and the cherry stock gives it a distinctive look you don’t often see.

I’ve got both a .66 cal and .68 cal mold that I’ll sell for an additional $100.

Price: $2,250 $2,200 (shipped)

Payment: I’m open to most forms—just ask.

If you’re looking for a historically accurate, beautifully made fowler that performs as well as it looks, this is it. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for additional photos.

Barrel length?

I’m sorry, I can’t believe I neglected to list that information. Barrel is a 42” Bobby Hoyt (so you know it’s quality)! LOP is approximately 14”.

I’ve got quite a large number of .66 cal cast round balls (100 or more) that I’ll be including with this guy. I also have a four-cavity Marty’s mold (no sprue cutter) and .68 brass mold (just needs Lyman style handles) that will come included in the sale— a $200 value!

When this gun was first commissioned, it cost over $3,000.

Do you have any info on how he finished the wood?

Sorry, I don’t have that info. I do know he used a mix of toning, stains, and different techniques to get that look. I’d recommend reaching out to him directly—he’s on Facebook and really approachable. I’m sure he’d be happy to share the details with you!

I appear to have neglected to mention that this gun uses a Kibler fowler lock. Perhaps the best production lock on the market, and replacement parts are cheap and readily available, too!

Oh, so you’re one of those freaks of nature, huh? Lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce? Back, foul creature! Back to the depths of your lair! Away with you! 🤪
