I have an old smoothbore that started as a flintlock with a crappy lock,
so i converted it to a caplock by removing the pan, frizzen and spring and
placing a piece of steel in the jaws. Works great. Barrel was shortened to 26".
I have both musket cap nipple and #11 nipple. Have nearly 2 bags of Circle Fly
over shot wads, a $70 Tanner brass .648 round ball mold to go with it. Accurate
with ticking patched round ball to 50-60 yds and does good with shot to around
30yds. Make a great all around hunting gun. I want $400 shipped

One or two piece barrel? Welded or threaded breech plug? Has it been inspected by a gunsmith? Reason I ask is, I have one of these with a 2 piece barrel and welded breech plug.

The Breech looks threaded and one piece barrel. I think some, if not all, of the ones people think are 2 piece barrels just look that way. It looks Iike the round section is screwed in to the octagon but it isn't. I have fired it with up to 100 gr of 2f Goex and a patched round ball with no issues.

I actually bore scoped mine, and you can see the seam on the inside. Not trying to be a douche, its just that some of these early classics, weren't really made that well.
