Hi all, well again I am planning for another project/buy..

I am thinking this time I would really like a french military musket either a 1777 or a 1766.

Any one shoot either, whats your opinions?

How about makers, anyone own and shoot that middlesextraders one here?

"It will take a few months to come up with the cash so specific is good!"
Also if anyone has one they might take some trades and cash for.......

I have a Pedersoli 1777 Charleville...just love it...the dished out cheekpiece is great. No complaints at all ...MUSKETS FOREVER!

The guns from MVT, Royalist Armes, etc. are the Indian-made guns with teak stocks. They are usuable but look a bit 'clunky' due to thick stocks. The Pedersoli M.1777 and the M.1763/66 from Navy Arms are probably slightly better built guns. From the strick standpoint of history, only the M.1763 or M. 1766 (which was a light weight version of the M.1763) are usuable as re-enacting pieces. It's not even a sure point that the metropolitan regiments sent from France during the Revolutionary War had been equipped with the latest model out, which would have been the M.1777. Even the fledging U.S. copied the M.1766 rather than the later version for it's military starting with the M.1795 from the armories at Springfield & Harpers Ferry.

I've never shouldered a french musket that wasn't stocked too high for me. I can't shoot them.
