No comparison between the hand engraved pistols and acid etched or laser engraved pistols. The hand engraved are much nicer. I have looked at hand engraved pistols that were the same make, model, year, and engraving pattern. They should be exactly the same but many are not. Each one had subtle little differences. The engraver did each one individually by hand and you could see little changes to the pattern so a lot of the hand engraved pieces are really one of a kind.View attachment 261315My favorite local gun shop has one of these, like new. I've thought that I liked laser engraved guns but this one is a beautiful pistol. I think I'll go back and get it tomorrow.
I already have a Remington, and an 1860 Colt, both reproductions.I opted for the Remington 1858 because Angel Eyes used one.

It seems to be a quality piece and shoots well.
My buddy is also interested in an engraved model, but I can't remember which. Lightning maybe.
I say go for it.
I want a pair of thoseView attachment 261315My favorite local gun shop has one of these, like new. I've thought that I liked laser engraved guns but this one is a beautiful pistol. I think I'll go back and get it tomorrow.
Go back and snag that sucker post haste. They're "out of stock/no backorder" anywhere online.View attachment 261315My favorite local gun shop has one of these, like new. I've thought that I liked laser engraved guns but this one is a beautiful pistol. I think I'll go back and get it tomorrow.
Nice . My most recent, no engraving, but pretty in there own right.

I got the Winchester 101 Trap Pigeon grade and Trap Diamond grade. Love them both. I'm a Winchester kind of guySadly the only real engraving I own is on a pair of Browning Superposed, one Skeet, the other Trap, both "Peon" grade.
Yes, but few can afford real hand-engraved.No comparison between the hand engraved pistols and acid etched or laser engraved pistols. The hand engraved are much nicer. You can still pick up some of the early Italian hand engraved pistols now and then for a reasonable amount. Navy Arms stopped offering the hand engraved pistols around 1980 because the cost of the engraving had risen too high and that was 43 years ago.Yes, but few can afford real hand-engraved.
Well, I've been busy and didn't make it back to the gun shop yet. I looked at the gun Monday afternoon and the shop is not open on Wednesdays so I will go back tomorrow. If the gun is still there I am going to buy it.View attachment 261315My favorite local gun shop has one of these, like new.
