.451 or .454 will work in the Remingtons.
Mine is a Pietta as well.
I prefer the .451 just because they are not as hard on the loading lever.

That's why I asked seems this one the chamber dia. is smaller than the two Colts I have in .44.
All I have right now are .454 but for a test run should be okay.

I've always been told that I have big ones :shocked2: but to answer your question I use .454's for all of my revolvers, both Pietta and Uberti, in all of the models that I and my son own.

Only friends of ours need the .457's for their Ruger Old Armies.

I have a Uberti. I tried a couple of .451 balls but I didn't get a really perfect "ring" when I chambered them, so I switched to .454 now I have a ring, even if it is a little lop sided. :shake:

As of now no chain fires though, so I seem to be heading in the right direction.

On some of my revolvers I don't get a "perfect" ring either. They seem not to care! I'm able to obtain scores in the 90's without the "perfect ring". Remember that the more lead that gets shaved-off, the more pressure that's required to load each one into the cylinder's chambers. This additional pressure can cause parts to wear quicker that normal, so most Pistoleros like me use the smallest ball that will work so that the loading lever does the least amount of work, and will therefore last for many happy years   .
