Found trapdoor barrel band in my stash, replaced blacksmith band. Touched up full-**** notch (now stays cocked). Stock is a mess - missing wood, etc. buttplate severely rusted. Looking better - maybe a "20-footer" - cool from 20 feet, ugly closer in.

Interior of barrel similar to a gas pipe, but it's clear of ackumpucky. I'm gonna shoot it this afternoon out of spite. Hold my coffee ..may be some parts for sale after I get out of the emergency room.
 
Well ...I can now truthfully say .."Why, yes, I've shot this gun." (On a lead sled, secured with bungee cords). 30 grains of FF, really loose-fitting .575 minnie, towards the woods.
It did stay in one piece and will now be headed to the antique mall with a price lower than what I paid. Thanks again to all who helped me.
