Does your 1863 Remmie have a forcing cone cut?Mine doesn't.
How about the muzzle crown?
What do the chambers measure and how about the barrel groove/bore?
I like to shoot this peewee but it would sure be more fun if It shot better than minute of body.

Mine has a forcing cone and a very slight crown at the muzzle as well.

The forcing cone is just large enough to remove the lands at the rear of the barrel plus just a tiny bit. It is not the large cone some have seen on a Colt replica for instance.

My chambers measure .312-.313. Grooves measure .320-.321 and the bore measures .309-.310.

That .310 bore with the .3125 chambers may be why it has chest accuracy at a range of 3 yards. :rotf:

Still, it is a neat little gun that is fairly accurate Historically speaking.

I don't recall who imported it but mine was a kit that I bought from Dixie Gunworks back in '93-'94.

I just might have to ream out the cylinder a tad bit.
The rifling seems to be plenty deep also.May have to knock that down also.
I don't ever expect 15 yd cloverleaf groups,but I can try.

There is no need to accept poor accuracy from cap & ball revolvers, a good one will outshoot most cartridge guns. The cap & ball design has an accuracy advantage over cartridge revolvers but yes, you must ream the chambers to full barrel groove diameter to realize that accuracy. Then, where will you get .323" balls?

Buckshot. Can't remember witch ought it is, but it's works fine in the one I did.

That is what I had in mind.To use buckshot of the right size. Can't remember which size but I have it down somewhere.
I used to use a .22 caliber pellet rifle for most of my backyard rabbit hunting. It worked great .I dropped everyone with one shot to the head. This revolver ,I believe should be able to do the same.If shots are kept to say 12yds or so it should drill'em.

I have a Lyman double cavity .323 mold. That is probably what it was made for. The balls are too big for my other .32s. :hmm:

See ya, Jim/OH :hatsoff:

I've been using 7grs 777 and wonder wad.I never tried for any kind of best load.Just started shooting.
A guy I know has been using a bullet from Big Lube Bullets with good results. The bullet is heavy for the the "63,80grs. if'n I remember right. But said he popped a rabbit for the pot at 10yds.
I have some 4f,3f and 777 that I will be working up accuracy loads with.
