I picked this up a couple days ago and know nothing about it. Some have said it’s original, some say it aint. I have no idea?? $1100. Possible trade for a flint I can hunt bambi with. I can add money or you can if the trade doesnt match up. Any additional info on this is welcome.
I'm obviously not an expert but the condition looks really good to be an authentic antique from the Civil War period.
The thing that jumps out to me is the cartouche. It looks mighty sharp and fresh to be from the 1860s.
Some of the parts may be authentic. And then again, maybe it all is and I just don't know what the heck I'm talking about.
Regardless, it's a really nice rifle and would be a ton of fun to shoot.
It's definitely a part repro, but looks like a nicely built one in beautiful shape with defarbing done. What stumps me is the lock. The plate must be a repro given the condition of the case hardening color. But it looks like original internal parts. Those won't fit on Italian repro locks, so could be a custom lock plate.
Anyway, worth the price IMO given what Pedersoli and Armi Sport new ones run these days.
