Just wondering if anyone has set up a TC renegade with a 1x32" - 40cal barrel, think it would be to heavy for target use?

it all depends on you if you can hold it. it would be ok for me i like a heavy rifle.

i have a 1 1/8" x 32" on my underhammenr that i use for off hand work.
i also have a 15/16 x 36 on my gpr.

might be a little heavy for offhand (for some people), but great off the bench. personally, i'd love it.

For me heavy is good for targets, makes it easier to hold steady. I have an old CVA that I drilled out and put a rifled 32 sleeve in. Heavy ...yes it is but boy does it shoot. I think what you want to do is a good idea...go for it if it's heavy and you plan on hunting with it put a strap on. I did mine. No regrets, SSettle

I have one on a hawken stock, as does Roundball now. I like a heavier gun and I got it. I find it stays on target offhand much better, doesnt move in the wind as much. it can fell nose heavy, but thats merly an adjustment of where I place my hand onthe forestock. The 38 inch GM barrel would be entirely too heavy, but the 32 is a fit. You can always put some weight in the buttstock and change your balance. the1 inchwill be a tad weightier but I fell its manageable for target work, tracking running animals....thats a tough one as the momentum of the barrel will take over. I know this from experience deer hunting with my 22-250 which weighed in at 15.8 lbs. wont do that again!
Go for it, join the .40 crowd!

HEY WAL A 32 OR 38" X 1 1/8 underhammer would be a bit to short and lite for you....by about 10" and ? 5 pounds or so. :rotf: (had to do it !) FRED :hatsoff:

Just to clarify, mine is a 15/16" x 33"(w/Breechplug) Flint barrel...not a 1".

Put 50 balls through it yesterday, another 50 balls today...extremely accurate...I can understand why it is apparently a favorite of folks who compete in ML shoots.

IMO, a 1" x 33" barrel with that tiny .40cal hole drilled in it would be heavy indeed...not one you'd want to still hunt with for very long.

mine is the same, 15/16, what a sweetheart!

as I mentioned earlier, I think the 1" would do paper well, but I wouldnt want to hunt with it either!

Sounds like you are as impressed with yours as I am with mine!
