20 Ga Auction SXS

30- 35 years ago I went to a little country auction. A Manton 20 gauge double came up. I bid and then my best friends brother in law bid.I bid quite a few times but Larry always bid higher. Well Larry was a local MD and a good guy. I knew his wallet was fatter than mine so I didn't run the bid up to make him pay. He has used it a few times and has taken some woodcock with it.
The other night I was talking to his wife and she said Larry has a shotgun he wants you to have. She said it was the auction gun! Today I picked it up, it's a great gift. The bores have a couple of pits but the partridge here in Maine won't know the difference. I'm pretty happy!
