Not a bad looking gun fair price if all is as stated the brown barrel kinda turns me off but that is a quick fix.

Loks to be a chambers kit. Too bad the builder clipped the finial off the buttplate and drove that big honkin' screw thru the top of it.... :shocked2:
Other wise it's nicely shaped and inletted.

Nice looking gun, I'm not real crazy about rear sights on a fowler though.

Definately a Chambers kit.

I don't care for the rear sight or the "big honking screw" on top of the buttplate.

If those things don't bother you though......the rest looks like a nice fowler.

Ah yes...I built that one about 6 years ago. Long before the "Mike Brooks" tutorials, Grinslade's fowler book and all the great advice on the MLF. I can chalk the "Big honkin' screw up to my inexperience and lack of knowledge. That was my first fowler and I thought you treated the buttplate as you would a rifle...live and learn. My intent at the time was just getting the inletting as perfect as I could, and not messing up the architecture!

Someone will get a very dependable and great shooting gun....with an imperfect buttplate...BTW, that piece of maple is a lot nicer than it looks in the photos...
geoff

If I thought for a minute I could do as well as you did I`d be smiling..

Lucky for me my early stuff rarely surfaces. :haha:

Hey Mike,

Here's a much more recent effort...Look any better?
POKE Here:

Mike did the engraving on this smooth rifle for me...He's a great resource for those of us who are improving our building skills, improving our carving...but just haven't quite mastered the engraving. I sent Mike the buttplate, triggerguard, lock plate and sideplate and had them back beautifully engraved in less than 4 weeks. Awesome. And VERY REASONABLY PRICED!

Thanks Mike!

hey Geoff,
the York you are building for me had better look as good as that one
