The barrel is from a Winchester Model 37 shotgun. There is .004" choke left. Walnut stock, large Siler lock. The specs are: Barrel, 24 5/8". Length of pull, 14 1/2". Overall length, 41". Weight, 5 lb. 1 oz.
It's a real handy gun to throw in the truck since I don't have a canoe any more. I'm selling it to fund another build. Full disclosure: load it with 1 1/8 oz of shot and 60 gr FF and you'll know when it goes off! Lighter loads are fine.
The price is $800 plus $75 shipping. If the shipping is less I'll refund the difference. I'll allow 5 days inspection and will refund the money if the gun is returned in the same condition as when I shipped it but I won't refund the shipping cost. Money order or bank checks accepted. No Pay Pal etc.

I've shot some round balls and some shot loads but I haven't played with it enough to give you an honest answer other than to say it seemed to pattern ok at 25 yards. I built it as a fun project to use up some spare parts and then it just sat in the gun rack.

I would be interested to know how you made this with the Winchester barrel. Looks like there could be a neat project to build a smoothbore with an old salvaged 12 or 20 gauge barrel.

The barrels on those older Winchesters are plenty thick enough in the breech just ahead of the chamber to install a breech plug and vent, at least with the 20 gauge. The machinist and master gunsmith who breeched it milled the plug out of a block of steel and fit it to the barrel so that the shoulders inside and out came up tight when the hole for the front sight was on top. He told me that he could have bored out the chamber and sleeved it which would have given another 2" of barrel length. This was after I cut the chamber area off. It's been awhile since I built it but I think the lugs were brazed on and came off with some heat.

would like to see flashhole area also. working on a H&A with savage bolt 410 barrel, drill n tape 5/8-18 for grade 8 bolt,medalset in the threads,stub bolt for receiver. mark for 1/4-28 nipple. flexhone some of choke out. start load 45gr 3f , overpowder wad 1oz #6 n soaked cousion wad. may need to fill chamber with 1 ts. cornmeal before wad.

I got behind a little so here is the photo I have of the pan and flash hole. The gunsmith has one of those tools that will cone the vent from the inside but it wouldn't cut deep enough so I drilled it out and installed a new vent. Don't know what to say about the LOP except that I can't please everyone!
As I mentioned on another thread, if I get $800 for this it will cover the parts for another build. My labor costs will have to be written off as mental therapy.
