Nice looking turkey, how big was it? Those are some real nice pics of that big ole kitty too.

You pitched a snow ball at a mountain lion? To make her mad to take a better picture? That takes some big brass ones :hmm:

Zodd: those " cats " kill a jogger or two out in California every couple of years. Its part of the gene pool cleansing to reduce the number of " Yuppies " who voted to ban hunting of Mountain Lions in the State af few years back. They are much better at eathing dogs and cats in sprawling suburbia, where those yuppies take up residence, and then whine and complain when FiFi goes missing, and expect someone else to DO SOMETHING about it. The cats do have to compete with the coyotes, which also take kittens and puppies on a regular basis in suburbia, but so far the lions are increasing in numbers nicely. A mature female can go 80 lbs. while a male can reach over 200 lbs. if the food sources are good. They normally avoid people but will attack if they mistake you for something else, or feel cornered, or are injured or sick.

What type of rifle is that? That is a great buck. It that a plains or a high moutain buck?

The rifle is a GM .58 caliber IBS barrel in a TC Renegade stock, which I recently restocked with a Pecatonica River walnut 1/2 stock replacement. I added iron buttplate, triggerguard and nosecap from "The Hawken Shoppe", iron toeplate, entry thimble and ramrod pipes as well as primitive style rear sight and silver front sight from TOTW.I browned all the metal with LMF browning solution. I am happy with the results.
The buck came from southern Idaho in the desert.

Thanks for the info Paul.We need a fair bit of genepool cleansing here in Oz too  Iam always amazed on this forum with the richness and diversity of species you seem to have on the American continent. In comparison Australia ,while having a unique fauna, seems species impoverished-cheers Zodd

roundball,
That's a neat pic. The way the sun is shinin' just kinda makes everything glow... Makes me want to go sit in the woods.
Not much else like it is there...getting out after a turkey a few Saturday's in the spring is OK but it's mainly just to hunt something, not because I'm really a die-hard turkey hunter.

The fall is the magic time for me in the woods...October/November when the leaves start turning, through the peak, and the tapering off...deep blue skies, bright sunshine, fall foliage, cool/crisp temps...doesn't get any better than that for me...squirrels, deer...almost don't care as long as I can get out there.

You said it!
I haven't taken up turkey hunting... yet. Lately I've been tempted. I'm trying to resist.
The elusive wild morel gives me enough reason to get out there during the spring without turkey hunting. Found a mess of 'em today. mmmmm.
The turkeys are really starting to get common around here tho. I might fold under the pressure one of these days.

I wish i had a better pic but i accidently deleted all my pics from my photobucket :cursing:
4X4 mule deer taken '06 muzzleloader season in Colorado, Close to Castle peak, unit 35. 110 grains fffg Blackpowder, .490 PRB, 40 yard shot to the brain pan. Yeah i know, overkill on the powder but i was expecting a long shot.

Edit: Ah HA! i found em all.

Thats is a fine attitude you have Greenmountainboy  and great photographs. How dangerous are those cats to humans? In OZ we don't really have any predators(except big crocs up north-we call them "salty's"- that like to eat German tourists-sorry kirrmeister :( )--cheers Zodd

Howdy again folks, Lions are !!! preditors in CO. My girlfriend got stalked by a small female four years ago and I got stalked wile calling for a client during bow season. That is why all members in my famley carry a sidearm at all times wile we are in the back country.
Most times it's harmless curiousity but better safe than sorry.
Have been running the woods up here in WY and now out side of Salmon ID, Man there are a lot of wolves up here. I just read in Outside mag that the only thing holding up delisting is WY needing to get onboard with MT and ID.
I diden't find a ton of wolf kill in WY out side the park but yesterday near Salmon ID I found two elk carcess and few deer taken by wolf. I haven't seen a single pile of fox or coyote scat.

As great as those pictures are, by far the greatest thing is your "ATTITUDE". Call yourself sportsman, hunter, or what ever. By example, you are an asset to all who venture afield.. :applause: :hatsoff:

My apologies I actually read the delisting article in outdoor life, From what I understand the feds goal is to have 100 wolves total in 10 packs around the states where the wolves were introduced. Sounds fairly reasonable. A few wolves to keep the bunny huggers happy but not so many as to affect our hunting and big game species, and allowing we the hunters to manage the pack the way it should be.
