PRB: I have a "one elk" ML tag for southeastern Oregon in mid October, and hope at least to see some elk, much less get a shot. Man, that is a really big cow. Did you ever estimate live or dressed weight? Did you skin and quarter her on the spot?

I hope you are successful in finding some elk to hunt. If you do, I wish you luck in taking one home. I really never gave weight a second thought. I guess that because all my elk have been quartered and packed out on my shoulders or on a mule's back, I have never had a set of scales handy to weigh the meat so I really have no idea. As far as the size of the cow, I really think she was just an average size mature cow. The one I shot last year was HUGE! much heavier pack job. I wish you a memorable hunt, whether you tag out or not :v
