Okay I did a search, found lots of info but Im still wanting to ask.

If I got this .62 with a 25 inch barrel, would it generate enough power out to say 75 yards or so to knock down a moose?

No sweat. I've got 26" and 27" 58 cals with proven track records, so a 62 would be even better.

I gotta say though, for some reason that 26" is louder than loud--- noticeably more than the 27". Can't explain it, but both are louder than you would expect. That's with 3f and 2f is worse. First time I was shooting the 26" around friends, they gave it its name: Dang! I'm betting your 62 will be even louder.

My .62 swivel breech has 24" barrels and definitely would take a moose at 75 yards. I think most are taken closer than that though. As Brown Bear says, these short ones do have an impressive bark but that 3/4 ounce ball has some serious potency even in a short barrel.

I think 75 yards is a little far for a short barrel. My .62 tradegun has a 24" barrel and i have taken a moose with it at 30 yards. at 25 yards it will shoot a single ragged hole at 50 yards it opens up to 4-5 inches, still plenty accurate for moose. At 75 yards it opens up to 12+ inches. Its a big difference past 50 yards.
My gun also has a rear sight to help out. My hunting load is 80 grs of 3F with a .600 PRB.
I would keep your shots at 50 yards or less unless you can get a good group farther out.

I probably wouldn't go to 75 yards unless a smoothie was grouping well that far, plus I had a good, rested shot. At 50 yards I just don't see any penalty for barrel length- accuracy or energy. Work up a good load and whack your moose.
