Guys and gals I just took into my home a piece made probabaly in the 70's from Spain. It is a very light flintlock, looks to be a 20ga with a full stock blued unswamped barrel and plain old drilled touch hole.

The lock is very small looks more like a pistol lock and is blued instead of case hardened. The broken ramrod looks like it is made for a .36cal gun.

The barrel has been proof marked so I know it isn't a "toy" but who made a cheap flintlock in that era of repro guns? :hmm:

The stock may be a two piece as there is a brass band in the middle of the forearm.

I remember those, were quite a few around at one time. Surprisingly they worked quite well, seen a guy use one to take a couple of 50 yard shoots with RB once.

i remember back in the 60's sears sold some cheap smooth bores from india.

There used to be a Spanish company called "Jukar" that was pretty common back in the 70's. I think it is a spanish word for "Junk". I have seen a few that shoot OK.

Many Klatch

Dixie Gun Works sold several of this type gun back in the 60's & early 70's. I remember they cautioned to go real slow with powder charges. Way back when, these were one of the few available guns out there for the then fledgling muzzleloading game. Without an old Dixie catalog around I'm guessing they limited charges to about 40 grains of FFg...just a guess though! :shocked2:
