WANO powder is the same powder as Schuetzen Powder and is it exactly as dirty as Goex and every other black powder. The fouling is slightly different between the brands depending on the grade of charcoal used. A lot depends on the climate you shoot in when it comes to humidity.
That often determines how hard the fouling is.

Dry here and GOEX residue gets hard pretty quickly.
Still looking for that nice clean shooting BP.....lol

Well, I think I have her figured out...went to an oiled patch and that loads easy enough, I'll keep experimenting but she's shooting good...here is at 50 yards benched unsupported....I think I need to put something dark on the silver front site blade back.

the best combination has turned out to be a .526 ball and .018 pillow ticking with spit.
I got the above grouping with the .526 and .015 spit patch but there was a hint of rifling cuts in some, not all, patches...it still printed nicely.
I tried the .018 PT and it prints great and I could re use the patches.
Don't notice any dif in loading either.
I did try the .018 earlier but they were wonder lubes and that stuff (WL) doesn't work well in the dryness here...really hard to get down the bore...spit works great.
Oh, yeah, got a bore light, the one you drop in...man the bore looks great...whoever owned this prior did a good job of maintenance.
Thanks, Mr. Calabash wherever you are.

That's some good shootin'!

I use 50/50 beeswax/olive oil for patch lube

Mink tallow from track of the wolf works well also, but for informal shooting spit works well.

Read somewhere you can sight in a muzzleloader at 13 yds and be real close "dead on" at 70-80 yds.

I wish I knew the max ordinance of a 42" 54 cal and what the trajectory looked like in a flinter (losing some of the pressure unlike a cap).
Proper Zero range, in relation to known distance, and relationship to the dead center would be nice to know.

What is the size of the black on an official NMLRA 50 and 100 yard targets? How about the X, 10, 9, 8 (etc) rings?

I've been using 50 meter ISSF smallbore targets (British NSRA) and know the scoring rings are larger than that, but wonder if the bull size is different too.
