The factory front-sight on the .31 Remmy is way too low and gun shoots very high. I had a welder weld a half inch steel where over the front sight. I then zeroed the gun in by filling it down.
I consider this a "necessary" modification. The gun now shoots just as good as any other short barrel .22 that I own.
If anyone else chooses to do this modification. Tell the welder to insert a wood rod down the barrel so that the hot still does not drip into the barrel by accident.
