I would look on here for a used gun. If your only option is a black powder firearm for carry I would look for a Remington 1858 in 44 caliber. They are reasonably reliable and easy to cut down for concealed carry. Here is a photo of one cut down.
Where is the thread on that one, agreed, that is VERY well done! Love it.
I carry a. 36 colt pocket navy (Uberti)
Loaded with 20g 3f-777,#11 German caps and nipples personaly drilled to .08mm & Loaded with 100% pure lead Richmond Lab conical.
Fk a 380 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That'll do 😁! I carry "Snubs" ('60 snubby .44) quite often. Glad to see others do as well. Careful, we may get called crazy again by the know all be all self defense experts. Where I live a 6 shooter is fine. I don't live in Chicago and need a belt fed blaster mounted in the back of a mini van.

I don’t believe I created a thread for that. I posted it on other threads. You can find lots of info on YouTube. That’s where I got the idea and methods to do it.
Thank you for the reply, I mainly need to know how ya holding that loading lever up. I'll go wander around the toob. This may be something I try.

I didn’t have success with the loading lever at this time. It kept falling down when shot. Others on YouTube have had better luck than I did. I may revisit it at some point. Now I’m using a latch sold by companies like Howell and Taylors. It works really well.

I knew about those latches that they sell. But I just think the NMA looks slick WITH the loading lever. Yours looks outstanding with the lever. I may try to keep the stock type latch setup.

It involves drilling the other end of the loading lever and cutting a slot to put the latch into. Then cutting a slot on the end of the cylinder pin for the latch to seat into. I may revisit the project at some point, but right now it works with the other latch really well.

There are reasons for not allowing someone to purchase guns ..... not only just being a felon. The O.P might consider a bit different life style if he is that sure of being a target of violence. He might consider talking to a professional concerning his fears as well. Either way he does not warrant my help in getting a weapon....if he can't figure it out himself.
What makes you think he is a modern day criminal? He could of had a cop lie on him and it could of been 19 years ago. Assumptions are a killer.

As I said way back:
He appears to be in Maine because he has asked about public places to shoot here. He says he cannot get a permit for a cartridge gun (odd, because one doesn't need a permit in Maine), and says he won't elaborate on his circumstances. It leads us to believe he is (for whatever reason) a prohibited person. In Maine, even BP guns are firearms under the legal definition of restricted weapons.

It is possible he's legally a resident of another state where a permit is required, and not a resident of Maine, but he's not saying.
Add in the fact he seems to have left the forum, and this whole thread is moot.
