Evening, fellers.
Just a quickie.
Is 00 buck the right size for a .31 Colt repro?

Thanks

One of the problems you might encounter using buckshot is that I have heard that the stuff you buy these days tends to have a fair amount of antimony in it which would probably make it hard enough so that it would be difficult to load in those little revolvers. I would have to check, and its been awhile since I have shot my uberti 31's, but I think I was finding that I got better performance with .315 diamteter round balls. If I recall .310 never seemed to be a good fit in the chamber.

I shoot .310 in my rifle and that is what 00 is, I think. I would think that a little bigger would be required for a revolver. Ya wanna shave a little lead for a tight seal.

Looking over the Dixie catalog, it says the Uberti 1848 and 1849 .31 cal pistol chambers are .319 diameter.
The Dixie Hartford M1849 Pocket .31 (Palmetto) also has .319 chambers.

The 1855 Colt Root and the "New Model Pocket Remington" have .315 diameter chambers.

All of these pistols will need a ball larger in diameter than .310.
