HOPE ALL is well, with you my friend. For what it's worth. I'd use 3/8" .375" Your ball will be Approx. .320" in diameter, plus the patching, so that will give you about .040" of clearance between the patch and the loading table when you seat the ball in it.
Again just my $0.02.

This is no right or wrong thickness, just use whatever wood you have or prefer to use. Personally, prefer a bit thicker piece of wood (7/16” to 1/2”) for 32 caliber loading blocks so a counterbore that fits over the muzzle can be added to line things up while still protecting the patch and ball. What's the proper board thickness for a 32 cal Crockett rifle. 310 rb 15 and 18 thousand patch????? going to make me one.
Good to see you adding your $0.02. Hopefully you and the Mrs continue to mend. For what it's worth. I'd use 3/8" .375" Your ball will be Approx. .320" in diameter, plus the patching, so that will give you about .040" of clearance between the patch and the loading table when you seat the ball in it.
